Why Give Thanks by Giving Back?
At Acorn2Oak, we believe that true gratitude is best expressed through giving back to the community. This October, we invite you to participate in the “Give Thanks by Giving Back Challenge” and help us raise essential funds for our community centre.
By giving back, you’re helping build a stronger, more resilient community.
Your donations directly impact:
- Food Security : Providing bi-weekly grocery to individuals and families
- Housing Support : Assisting individuals and families in maintaining stable housing.
- Youth Centre of Excellence : Providing services that empower and equip youth with the tools for academic and life success.
- Seniors Wellness : Offering support, wellness programs, and companionship to elderly members of our community.
- Justice Program : offering services to restore, equip, and transform youth, helping them reach their full potential.
- Counselling Services : Ensuring mental health and emotional support are available for everyone who needs them.
- Refugee Support : Helping newcomers transition to their new lives with dignity.
- After Prison Care : We offer a safe, welcoming space with support, information, and referrals to help rebuild lives.
- Cornerstone : each quarter, we provide meals to over 250 homeless individuals in Toronto

Hi. My name is Maria and I'm a recipient of the acorn to oak financial help monthly.
..."This program has helped me land a home for my daughter and I, as well as to help financially monthly. This Significantly helps with the cost of living such as: Groceries, Clothing, Extra Curricular Activities, and the Security of knowing that in case something unplanned were to happen, we are able to stay afloat (Peace of Mind). I heard about this program through my boss, and I am thankful for this help. As a Single Mother and as a Sole Caregiver of my daughter (2022 her father was crossing the road and got hit by a car; passing away; robbing her of her father, and her finale goodbye- to which she is struggling with daily), Everyday life was getting very hard, and I'm extremely thankful for this program. I know I'm not the only one, but if it is helping us, it is helping others as well. I'm thankful that there are programs available, such as this, to help. Thank you Acorn 2 Oak, for adding Hope, Happiness, and Light. Blessings"

My name is Bridget and I would like to take a few minutes to share how much the housing subsidy has helped
...my family and I. As we all know, the cost of living has and is raising and it has become difficult for many families to make ends meet. I am a single mom of 5 children and found myself in this situation. It came to the point that I had to decide to withdraw my children from their extra curricular activities in order to make ends meet, but then a close friend recommended the housing program and I applied. The process was fairly easy and Madine was very helpful in answering any questions I had. Receiving the subsidy has helped me tremendously and I am very grateful for the assistance. Receiving this monthly assistance has put me in a position to pay my rent on time and in full every month and room to keep my children in their activities which is important these days seeing that the younger generation is glued to their devices. It’s important to me to have my kids outside, socializing, doing something they enjoy and receiving the subsidy to helps to take care of a major necessity, rent. Receiving assistance with groceries is also a great help and I would like to thank Acorn 2 Oaks, their staff and the region of peel for the opportunity to make ends meet monthly.
